The device is calibrated in 2 stages. It is first factory calibrated onto a flow loop for mass flow rate. For phase fractions (GVF and watercut), the calibration is done in-situ using MEDENG’s proprietary densitometer. This is a separate module that is attached to the MPFM during calibration, through which is fed the well fluid. It performs punctual measurements of densities and provides laboratory grade data on GVF and on watercut. These information are then inputted in the MPFM software to complete its mathematical models. The same densitometer is used on site to measure the standard dead oil density of the well and its produced water standard density. Once the calibration of the MPFM is completed, it measures on a real-time basis and traces all variations of flow rates, watercut and GVF. The MPFM is calibrated under one specific P and T and proprietary state equations perform the compensations of measurements which are induced by subsequent variances of P and T as they naturally occur.

Easy, economical and reliable calibration...

PVT models are not required...

The Mathematical Modeling method does not use inputted values of physical fluid properties other that the 3 pure phase densities for dead oil, gas and water at the time of calibration. Variations in other fluid properties, such as PVT data, static viscosity, water salinity, do not require re-calibration of the meter.
